Sedation

If you are very nervous about treatment, here at The Smile Practice in Oxford we offer dental sedation that puts you into a relaxed dream-like state. Most patients that undergo sedation dentistry, also known as sleep dentistry (although you are not technically sleeping) describe it as a relaxing experience.

At The Smile Practice, we offer both oral and intravenous sedation, depending on your needs. Whilst you are under sedation your blood pressure, pulse, oxygen levels in the blood and heart are monitored.

Sedation is a reliable and effective means of making patients feel relaxed very quickly. Most patients do not remember anything about the treatment when under sedation. This is because an amnesic effect is achieved with the medication which affects only the memory of that procedure and a short time afterwards.
